Description
Creamy Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole made with juicy chicken, ham, broccoli, Swiss cheese, and a Dijon mustard sauce, all topped with crispy breadcrumbs.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon chicken or vegetable bouillon powder
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
2 cups fresh broccoli florets
4 cups cooked chicken, diced or shredded
2 cups diced ham
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
1. Melt butter in a saucepan and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
2. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
3. Slowly add broth and milk while whisking.
4. Add mustard, bouillon, and Parmesan. Cook until thick.
5. Season with salt, pepper, and parsley if desired.
6. Blanch broccoli in boiling salted water for 2–3 minutes.
7. Grease a casserole dish and preheat oven to 400°F.
8. Layer chicken, broccoli, and ham in dish.
9. Pour sauce over and top with Swiss and Parmesan cheese.
10. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top.
11. Bake for 30 minutes or until bubbling and golden.
Notes
You can swap broccoli with green beans or cauliflower.
For gluten-free, use cornstarch and gluten-free breadcrumbs.
This dish can be assembled in advance and baked later.
