Description
This layered dessert features a moist red velvet cake base, creamy Oreo cheesecake center, and smooth chocolate ganache topping. It’s ideal for special events and celebrations.
Ingredients
1½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup sour cream (room temperature)
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs (room temperature)
4 tsp red food coloring
⅔ cup buttermilk (room temperature)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp white vinegar
10 Oreos (filling removed, crushed)
24 oz full-fat cream cheese (room temperature)
Oreo filling from 10 cookies
1 cup granulated sugar (for cheesecake)
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 cup sour cream (room temperature)
1 tbsp vanilla extract (cheesecake)
2 large eggs + 1 yolk (room temperature)
15 chopped Oreos (cheesecake)
1 cup dark chocolate chips
½ cup heavy cream
1 can cream cheese frosting
8 chopped Oreos (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9-inch springform pan and 8-inch round pan with parchment. Spray with baking spray.
2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar. Add sour cream, oil, vanilla, eggs, and red food coloring.
4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk. Stir in baking soda and vinegar.
5. Divide batter into pans and bake 18–20 minutes. Let cool completely.
6. Lower oven to 300°F. Crush Oreo wafers. Beat cream cheese until smooth.
7. Add Oreo filling, sugar, and cornstarch. Mix. Add sour cream, vanilla, eggs, and yolk. Combine well.
8. Fold in crushed and chopped Oreos.
9. Place red velvet base in springform pan. Pour cheesecake mixture on top.
10. Wrap springform pan in foil. Place in a water bath. Bake for 90 minutes.
11. Cool in oven with door slightly open for 1 hour. Refrigerate overnight.
12. Microwave chocolate chips and cream. Stir smooth. Pour ganache over chilled cake.
13. Crumble second cake layer and press onto sides. Pipe frosting and add Oreo garnish.
Notes
Room temp ingredients make a smoother batter.
A water bath prevents cracks.
Chill overnight for best results.
Food coloring is optional.
