Description

Flaky Strawberry Danish made with puff pastry, sweet cream cheese filling, strawberry jam, fresh strawberries, and vanilla glaze.


Ingredients

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

Zest of 1 lemon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

17.25 ounces puff pastry, thawed

1 large egg, beaten

16 teaspoons strawberry jam

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

16 fresh strawberries, sliced


Instructions

1. Beat cream cheese, sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla until smooth.

2. Roll puff pastry and cut into 1-inch strips.

3. Twist strips and coil into round shapes.

4. Chill shaped pastries for 15 minutes.

5. Preheat oven to 400°F.

6. Press center wells and prick lightly with fork.

7. Brush edges with egg wash.

8. Add jam, cream cheese, then more jam.

9. Bake for 18 minutes until golden brown.

10. Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth.

11. Top with fresh strawberries and drizzle glaze.

Notes

Chill pastry before baking to maintain shape.

Avoid overfilling to prevent leakage.

Store at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate up to 3 days.

Freeze unbaked pastries and bake from frozen.
