Description

This Classic One Pot Spaghetti combines lean ground beef, tomato passata, beef broth, herbs, and dry spaghetti in one pot for a rich, hearty family dinner. The pasta cooks directly in the sauce, absorbing plenty of flavor while keeping cleanup simple.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 onion, finely chopped

1 pound lean ground beef

700 grams tomato passata

3 cups beef broth

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons tomato paste

3/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon black pepper

350 grams dry spaghetti

Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook for about 2 minutes, or until softened and fragrant.

3. Add the ground beef and cook while breaking it into small pieces.

4. Continue cooking until the beef is fully browned.

5. Pour in the tomato passata.

6. Add a small amount of beef broth to the empty passata container, shake well, and pour it into the pot.

7. Add the remaining beef broth, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, salt, and black pepper.

8. Stir well and bring the sauce to a gentle boil.

9. Add the dry spaghetti, spreading it around the pot.

10. Let the pasta soften for about 30 seconds.

11. Gently push the spaghetti beneath the liquid.

12. Cook for about 12 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

13. Reduce the heat slightly near the end while keeping the sauce at a gentle simmer.

14. Remove the pot from the heat when the spaghetti is just slightly firmer than desired.

15. Toss everything together for about 30 seconds so the pasta finishes cooking and the sauce thickens.

16. Serve immediately with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Use tomato passata for a smooth and rich sauce.

Stir the pasta frequently while it cooks to prevent sticking.

Keep the sauce gently simmering rather than boiling aggressively.

If the pasta needs more liquid before it is fully cooked, add boiling water a little at a time.

Lean ground beef works well because it adds flavor without excessive grease.

Ground turkey, chicken, pork, or Italian sausage can also be used.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave with a splash of broth or water if needed.

Freeze cooled portions in freezer-safe containers for up to 3 months.

Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
