Description
Garlic Parmesan Roasted Broccoli is a quick and flavorful side dish made with fresh broccoli, olive oil, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. The florets roast until tender with crisp edges, then finish with melted cheese for a savory result.
Ingredients
1 pound fresh broccoli florets
1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons olive oil
Red chili flakes, optional for garnish
Instructions
1. Arrange the oven rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 425°F.
2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Wash the broccoli and dry it thoroughly.
4. Cut the broccoli into evenly sized florets.
5. Place the broccoli in a large mixing bowl.
6. Add the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
7. Toss until every floret is evenly coated.
8. Spread the broccoli in a single, uncrowded layer on the prepared baking sheet.
9. Roast for 15 to 20 minutes.
10. Rotate the pan and flip the florets halfway through cooking.
11. Remove the baking sheet from the oven.
12. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan evenly over the roasted broccoli.
13. Return the pan to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes.
14. Bake until the cheese melts and develops a lightly golden texture.
15. Transfer the broccoli to a serving dish.
16. Garnish with red chili flakes if desired.
17. Serve immediately while hot and crisp.
Notes
Cut the broccoli into similar-sized florets so every piece cooks evenly.
Dry the broccoli completely before adding oil to prevent steaming.
Do not overcrowd the baking sheet because space helps the edges become crisp.
Use freshly grated Parmesan for better melting and stronger flavor.
Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving for extra brightness.
Replace Parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a sharper taste.
Frozen broccoli may be used, but it should be thawed and dried thoroughly first.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Reheat leftovers in a 400°F oven or air fryer to restore some crispness.
